Butter Lamb by Parishioner, Jenny McCloud The butter lamb is a traditional feature of Polish Easter meals. The butter lamb represents Jesus, the Paschal Lamb, who sacrificed himself on Good Friday. On Holy Saturday, Polish families take the butter lamb, along with other foods consumed during an Easter feast, in a basket to be blessed at Święconka, the blessing of food. (Please see the times below). The butter lamb is then included on the dinner table on Easter.
Check out the light-hearted and simple video tutorial below on how to make a butter lamb for Easter! The video was made especially for our parishes by Lynn Melchiori who is a parishioner at St. Mary's and a former Art Teacher at St. Stanislaus Kostka School.
