The Music Ministry offers three opportunities to sing each weekend. We have a traditional choir, which sings at our 4:00 p.m. Vigil Mass at Notre Dame, 8:00 a.m. Mass at St. Stanislaus, 9:45 a.m. Mass at St. Mary's, Holy Day Masses, and at special events. This choir sings traditional and contemporary hymns, in choral settings using the organs in each church for accompaniment.
Our Music Ministry is under the direction of Tim Rougeau. If you are interesed in joining our choir, please contact him at the parish office 413-743-0577 or email [email protected].
For information about the role of music in the liturgy, please see Sing to the Lord: Music in Divine Worship, a document developed by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.
Tim Rougeau has been playing the organ and singing in Berkshire County parishes for 25 years. He began at the age of 12 as a substitute organist at the former North American Martyrs Parish in Lanesborough. From there, he moved on to St. Mary of the Assumption Parish in Cheshire and was the Sunday morning organist from 1997-2000, principal organist from 2000-2003 and Music Director from 2002-2003. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in History and Music from Assumption College in Worcester, MA in 2005, Tim became the Music Director and Organist at St. Peter Parish in Great Barrington, MA in 2006. He also became Music Director at St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish in Housatonic in 2009. Tim graduated with a Master of Education from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in 2019.
In an effort to move closer to home, Tim accepted the position of Director of Music Ministries at Sts. Patrick and Raphael Parish in Williamstown on July 1, 2011. He remained there until being hired as the Music Director here at St. John Paul II Parish on August 1, 2014. On October 8, 2023, Tim resumed his former role as Music Director of St. Mary of the Assumption Parish. Tim hopes to remain in our parishes for many years to come.
Tim lives in Adams. When he's not in church, he teaches English and History to 6th, 7th and 8th graders at Gabriel Abbott Memorial School in the town of Florida, MA.
