"And Christ called to him the twelve, and began to send them out two by two, and gave them authority over unclean spirits . . . So they went out and preached that men should repent. And they cast out many demons, and anointed with oil many that were sick and healed them."
Mark 6: 7, 12-13
Through the ordained ministry, especially that of bishops and priests, the presence of Christ as head of the church is made visible in the midst of the community of believers. In the beautiful expression of St. Ignatius of Antioch, the bishop is like the living image of God the Father. (CCC #1549)
Our parish promotes and prays for an increase in vocations to the priesthood and religious life so that the life of the Church is full of those willing to give up their lives in service to God and His Holy People. Our parish has also had several seminarians minister here as part of their formation toward priestly ministry. The Diocese of Springfield celebrates the Sacrament of Holy Orders each June for those who have discerned God's call.
Our diocese has a great program for vocations with an abundance of resources available to those who are considering the priesthood and are looking for more information. Check out their site at https://www.myvocation.com/
